Ravage - Royal Fae Academy 1

Ravage is the first full book in the Royal Fae Academy Series.

Having been hidden away for most of her life, Esmeray must take her brother's place at the Fae Academy, following his mysterious death.  Why has she been hidden?  There's a darkness in the family history that is more evident in Esme than it was in her brother.

The book blends mystery and Fae politics with a fast burn reverse harem romance.  Esme's room mates at the Academy?  Her brother's four best friends.  Who have been in love with Esme for years.  She's also in love with them, but they were off limits.

Both the mystery elements and the romance in the book are fast paced, and full of twists, with a cliffhanger ending.  Looking forward to the next one!

Frozen in Time - Crystal North

It's a while since I've stayed awake til 2am to finish a book, but this was worth it!

Having caught her fiancé cheating mere minutes before she's due to marry him, Soraya needs a way out, and with the help of a little bit of magic, finds it.  She finds herself transported to an alternate version of Reykjavík, along with 4 hot Norsemen.

This is a sweet, fun story.  Soraya is relatable, and the guys are well developed - both in character and stature!  Along the way, Soraya finds herself, and her history and deals with her baggage, along with helping the guys deal with theirs in order to get back to reality.  And what happens when they do is, well, magical!

I discovered Crystal North's books through her contribution to the Silver Springs world, and I'm looking forward to reading a lot more of her books in future!

Revere - Royal Fae Academy Prequel

This is a prequel novella setting the scene for the new Royal Fae Academy.

All the main characters are introduced, and their relationships to each other are established.  There's a lot of background, without too much detail - just enough to get you interested and make you want to learn more!

There's one hot scene - with a twist!  It also sets up the story arc for the main series.

All in all, quick hot read that leaves you wanting more!

Once Upon a Fairy Tale Night - Anthology

I'm currently dipping in and out of this collection of adult fairy tales, but loving it so far!

Did you know Beauty and the Beast had a daughter, who grew up to train as an assassin? Lacey Carter Andersen and May Dawson give a fantastic introduction to Mercy, who you may already have met in the God Fire Reform School books. There's a touch of Terry Pratchett apparent in the guild - no bad thing, in my opinion! - and it's both the perfect back story to a character we already know, and a great set up for her own series.

I've seen a few people recently asking about shark shifters? Well, A Fairytale retelling of Twelve Dancing Princesses by Cassie Leigh has got you covered! I'm not at all familiar with the original, but it's a fun, sweet tale, and I'd love to find out more about the other 11 sisters!

Fairest, a Snow White Retelling by KM McKenna is something of a prequel, setting up the Evil Queen's back story, and I hope there's more to come!

I could go on, but you get the picture! All the fairy tales you grew up with, and a few more besides, but not the versions you knew!

Don't Cross My Path (Legends Unleashed #2)

This is the second book in the series, and should not be read as a stand alone.

The book picks up right where the first one left off, and like Mae, we barely have a moment to catch our breaths!

There's a lot of world building here, we find out a lot more about who - and what - everyone is, and how Mae ties in overall. Her return from the Mirror Realm has had a massive impact. The action is fast and gory, and the relationship scenes, both romance and bromance, give a welcome respite!

Overall good book, with a hell of a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see where it all goes next.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog, which I have set to keep together all my book reviews.  I will be copying across those I currently have on Good Reads/Amazon and adding new ones as I go.

I've been a reader for as long as I can remember - one of the simple pleasures of my walk home from school was passing the local library.  Now, I'm more likely to be found with a Kindle in my bag and a mile long to-read list.
