Reign - Royal Fae Academy 3

Reign (Royal Fae Academy, #3)Reign by Lacey Carter Andersen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The third and final book of the Royal Fae Academy starts right in the middle action, and doesn't let up!

There's Fae society to save, a traitor to find, and families to reunite.

I read this in one sitting, as I was so keen to find out the ending! Of course, it's HEA for the main characters, but does also set up a future series in the same world.

This is a fab ending to a great series!

Ruin - Royal Fae Academy 2

Ruin (Royal Fae Academy, #2)Ruin by Lacey Carter Andersen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruin is book 2 of the Royal Fae Academy series, and picks up pretty much where the first book left off. It deals mostly with the mystery of what exactly is going on at the School, and in the deeper reaches of Fae Society, and how it ties in with Esme's brother's death.

The identity of the mystery stranger is hinted at, with a twist, along with his connection to Esme.

The story moves at a far pace - this and the following book take place over a very short time frame- and it sets up the action for the final act perfectly.

Love Bloom - CC Pine

Love Bloom (Spell Library #13)Love Bloom by C.C. Pine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was totally ridiculous, and I loved every minute of it!

If you've read the Spells Library Books, set in the Silver Springs universe, you'll know all about this book. If you haven't, go read at least a few, then come back. Trust me, although this is a stand alone, you'll get so much more out of it if you're familiar with the other books, little nods and inside jokes are scattered throughout. It's also very different from the main series.

Love Bloom is the spelled book that each of the FMCs read before finding their fate, and in-universe is written by one of the other residents of the town - actually a combination of several of the series' authors.

The main plot is fairly straightforward in terms of fantasy and fairytales - evil wizard wants to take over the kingdom, and it's up to the princess and her true love - or true loves, in this case - to stop him. The characters are fun and sweet, and there are so many floral euphemisms I didn't know existed! And of course, they all love happily ever after!

I loved it. After it being a running theme through 12 books, I'm glad we got a chance to read it ourselves.

A Heart of Stone - Alexis Taylor & Beth Hendrix

A Heart of StoneA Heart of Stone by Alexis Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fairy tale retelling, with a twist!

You start with the evil king mid-plan, and they swap to one of the servants in his castle, who has been badly abused and tortured by him for as long as she can remember, and is planning her escape. Which she does, thanks to the price and his best friend. As they continue their journey, the learn just how deeply the king's plotting has gone, and also what they mean to each other!

Immediate dangers are solved in true fairy tale style, and while they do have a happy for now point at the ending, the next book is also set up.

For a relatively short book, the characters are well developed and clear, the story is well faced and it's overall a fun read. Looking forward to the next one!

Unleashed: A Rejected Mates Prequel

Unleashed is the prequel story to a new Rejected Mates series.  Please note the trigger warnings.

For a short story, this packs a punch.  Keana's life up to this point, and the reason for the choices she makes are clearly portrayed, and you feel a lot of sympathy for her decisions.

We've got shifters, demons and angels, which is an unusual mix, and feels fresh and interesting, especially the way the characters are positioned.

As a prequel, there is of course a cliffhanger leading into the first full book, and I can't wait to read it!
