Memories Forgotten - The Heart of Edarus Book 1

Memories Forgotten (The Heart of Edarus Book 1)Memories Forgotten by Aspen Marks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Slow burn RH set in a post apocalyptic future - but be warned, there's a cliffhanger!

I really enjoyed this, slower paced than I normally read, at least for the romance, but the pace of the action and the overall world building makes up for it. Noemi - Emmy - has lost her memories, so as a reader we learn a lot of what's going on in the world as she does.

There's twists and turns and, as mentioned, a massive cliffhanger leading into the next book - which I can't wait to read!

Dark Wolf - Claimed by Wolves 3

Dark Wolf (Claimed by Wolves, #3)Dark Wolf by Callie Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One common theme in a lot of books I read is that the issues faced are caused by lack of communication. So, it was refreshing to see that the characters here consciously subverted this and made a point of opening up. Of course, this was mostly after the guys realised the impact of not listening to Sable in the first places!

Now that the character group is firmly established, the story is turning to look at the bigger picture, the shifter/witch war, and where Sables fits into this. The story moves along at a satisfying pace, but I'll warn you to keep tissues handy - this is the first book in a long time to make me cry!

The next book is the final one in the series, and I'm looking forward to a satisfying conclusion!

For The Love Of You : An Anthology For Sosha

For The Love Of You : An Anthology For SoshaFor The Love Of You : An Anthology For Sosha by BBB Publishings
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fab anthology of short stories, with something for everyone!

There's a great mix of authors I know and some I don't, and a great range of genres. As with all anthologies, I'll be dipping into this on and off over the next few months, but whatever mood I'm in, I know I'll find something to suit!

Fractured Remians - from Torture: A Halloween Anthology

Torture: A Halloween AnthologyTorture: A Halloween Anthology by AJ Blackburn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This review is specifically for Fractured Remains by Crystal North. I'll update with others as I finish them!

First a note on the whole book - it's a Halloween Anthology by British authors, so expect dark, tortures souls. All the stories come with trigger warnings; this isn't sugar and spice and all things nice!

The story centres round Callie, who is recovering from an incident that is hinted at, but not fully explored, and her three friends and protectors. The three guys are there to both protect Callie and help her heal, and to hunt down and avenge the bad guys.

For a short (approx 16k word count) story, the characters are quickly and effectively developed, looking at both past and future relationships, and the how of what happened to Callie is told via flashbacks to text messages and one hell of a twist/cliffhanger at the end!

In line with the warnings, there's one torture scene which I'd describe as descriptive rather than gory, and in fitting with the rest of the story.

As mentioned, it ends on a cliffhanger, with the follow up due next year. Can't wait!
