Wicked Vampire Prince - Royal Blood Sage #1

Wicked Vampire Prince (Royal Blood Saga, #1)Wicked Vampire Prince by Bella Klaus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great new series

First in a new series, but it's set in the same universe as the author's Blood Fire saga books, so some characters and settings are already familiar.

The two main characters are, at least to begin with, as different as possible. I honestly didn't expect Yana's background! The story has a lot of twists and turns, you honestly don't know where they're going to end up, and some unexpected choices don't make sense until later in the book.

The cliffhanger is a doozy, but thankfully the next book isn't too far away!

Moon Enchanted - Shifter's Curse #1

Moon Enchanted (Shifter's Curse #1)Moon Enchanted by Devyn Sinclair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One night changes everything

One night changes everything, and Cora is now learning that everything she thought she knew is wrong.

This book has a good mix of heat and suspense making up the plot. Although it's not billed as a fairy tale re-imagining, it feels like it could be, with hints of Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast running through.

As the first book in a series following one RH throughout, there is of course a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see how it's resolved.

Jupiter - Solar Mates #2

Jupiter (Solar Mates, #3)Jupiter by Tabitha Barret
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jupiter is lucky in everything but love, so when she finds her mates in Silver Springs, it goes about as well as you'd expect!

This was a fun and original story. The characters were well written and believable, as were their reactions to everything going on. And you have cameos from old favourites and upcoming characters that makes the world feel that much richer.

I'm enjoying this series so far.

Elemental Shadowed - Of Demons and Dragons #2

Elemental Shadowed (Of Demons and Dragons, #2)Elemental Shadowed by Helen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it

This picks up following the aftermath of book 1's cliffhanger. While trying to figure out the prophecy and how she fits into it, Tessa has to face several trials that Atlantis itself is throwing her way, in order to find her place. Although she has 4 mates, the focus here is on her relationship with Finn and Griffin, which makes sense since Finn represents water and Griff his opposite and complement in fire. There is some development with Dres and Kai, but I would expect more detail there as we explore their homelands. Tessa is a tough cookie, and her guys are a good match for her, and for each other. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes next!

Embers and Ash - Winged mates #2

Embers and AshEmbers and Ash by Olivia Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Satisfying conclusion

The second half of Olivia Hart's high fantasy duet sees a fae princess team up with her enemy in order to defeat his father. This had a very different feel to the first novel in the set, but it works as Orlana is a very different type of heroine from Talia. She and Darius make a fantastic enemies to lovers couple, Their relationship feels real and understandable on both sides of the emotional balance. The story has a satisfactory conclusion to war between the Solen, Arden and Umbran fae.

Eff Immortality: A Real Death Adventure

Eff Immortality: A Real-Death Adventure (The Real-Death Adventures of Lorelai Byrne)Eff Immortality: A Real-Death Adventure by Sterling Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it!

I've been loving the Real Death Adventures of Lorelai Byrne, and this book basically fits in as 2.5 in the series, picking up immediately on the cliffhanger at the end of book 2, but focussing on Effie, rather than Lorelai. This serves two purposes - it expands the world building, specifically giving us more information on how vampires work in this world, and also allows more time to do justice to Effie and her mates than if they'd been squeezed into Lorelai's next book. This was both fun and emotional. We already knew the characters to some extent, but I loved getting to know them all better and seeing them deal with their own crises. I'm looking forward to Lorelai's final book now to see how Effie's new life fits in and how that storyline finishes up!

Vampire Wars - Kingdom of Blood #3

Vampire Wars (Kingdom of Blood #3)Vampire Wars by Callie Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mikka and her men are back!

Following the cliffhanger at the end of book 2, they're now faced with restoring peace to the vampire clan and preventing an all out war on humans. This was a fantastic way to tie up the storyline. There were some unexpecting twists along the way, and at one point, I was starting to get Matrix vibes! While Mikka's story is complete, I'd love to see more set within this world.

Insurrection - Monarchs of Hell #1

Insurrection (Monarchs of Hell #1)Insurrection by R.L. Caulder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in a new trilogy, which means there's a lot of world building, establishing each of the six houses, where they sit in relations to each and who the main players for each are. Amare, our FMC is the Princess of the House of Death, and the heir to the throne. The focus is on the heirs for each of the houses and how their attitudes and politics differ from the older generation.
Although there are a lot of characters and POVs, they are all well written, and I found it fairly easy to keep track - no mean feat when we're looking at a harem of 6 guys alongside the FMC!
There's more world building than steam here, but the balance feels right.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Venus - Solar Mates #1

Venus (Solar Mates, #1)Venus by Hanleigh Bradley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first of the Solar Mates series is exactly the type of quirky story I've come to expect from both these authors. A heroine with amnesia and maybe a stalker. A book shop owner that hates romance books, a mafia doctor, and a hot guitarist with his moody son in tow.
Everyone is descending on Silver Springs for the Not A Vampire concert, which brings new faces and magic to the town.
I really felt for Venus with her total confusion at what was happening, and I loved the eventual resolution - although I'd also love more background on her - maybe in Neptune?

Saturn - Solar Mates #0.5

Saturn: A Quirky Fated Mate Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance (Solar Mates)Saturn: A Quirky Fated Mate Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance by Mia Harlan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fun Start To A New Series

Saturn is a short intro to the newest series from the Silver Springs Universe - Solar Mates. It introduces several of the female leads from various books, and also the rock band, Not a Vampire. I love a good rock star romance, and totally related to Saturn's reactions to the guys from the band - both fangirling and discovering their supernatural secrets! The story has a happy ending, and sets up the rest of the series brilliantly.

Jacinth - Jewels Cafe

JacinthJacinth by T.L. Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Latest from Silver Springs

Jacinth is the latest jewel in Silver Springs. We don't know how she ended up there, but she has 3 mates desperate to get her out. Jacinth is a fun character and contrasts wonderfully with her twin sister, whose story I can't wait to read. Her three men are realistic and vulnerable in how they deal with her situation. I really enjoyed this addition to the world of Silver Springs!
