Serpentine by J. KearstonMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Worth sticking with it
This book took me a little longer than normal to get into - although I think this is testament to how well written Risa's back story is written. She's had a tough life - abusive family, controlling boyfriend, and starts the book abducted and shoved into s a stranger's trunk. It's not comfortable. It was worth sticking with it though. Risa grows and learns her truth, thanks to her 3 mates - who themselves grow and develop. The story is compelling and puts a unique slant on some of the mythology we've loved. The book is a standalone, no pesky cliffhangers to worry about, but I'd love to see the world expanded into future books!
